IT Infrastructure Services Director

The Director of OUIT Operations leads the strategy, reliability, and modernization of the University's core IT infrastructure. This role oversees teams managing server and virtualization platforms, cloud operations, storage, backup, identity services, monitoring, and operational tooling to ensure secure, resilient, and scalable enterprise technology. The Director drives infrastructure modernization, operational maturity, and risk reduction while coordinating service lifecycle management, disaster recovery readiness, and continuous improvement. They provide strong leadership for managers and technical staff, set operational standards, support workforce development, and ensure effective collaboration across OUIT to maintain service reliability and support institutional priorities.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- 6 years of experience in infrastructure management, service delivery, technology operations, or related field
Equivalency/Substitution: Experience or a combination of education & related experience can be considered in lieu of degree. A one-to-one ratio is used to determine the number of years of experience required in place of a degree.
Department Preferences
- Experience leading infrastructure, operations, or enterprise technology teams responsible for core platforms such as servers, virtualization, cloud operations, storage, backup, monitoring, identity services, or operational tooling.
- Experience partnering with IT directors, technical leaders, cybersecurity, networking, application teams, business units, and external customers to align priorities, manage expectations, resolve cross-functional issues, and support operational decision-making.
- Experience assessing team workload, evaluating incoming requests, and prioritizing project and operational work based on institutional need, operational risk, available capacity, service impact, and business continuity requirements.
- Experience leading production operations, incident response, change coordination, disaster recovery readiness, lifecycle planning, standards development, and modernization efforts for mission-critical infrastructure services.
- Demonstrated ability to lead managers and technical staff through planning, prioritization, coaching, communication, workforce development, operational accountability, and continuous improvement.
