Offer Description
The Concrete, Sustainability and Smart Structures (https://www.c3sbarcelona.com) group at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC·BarcelonaTech) is seeking candidates to apply for a Joan Oró predoctoral fellowship.
C3S works at the intersection of construction and digitalization: optimization of construction processes, new and alternative cementitious materials, sensor-based monitoring of concrete performance, and sustainability assessment of infrastructure. The group is involved in national projects and in large-scale European projects, working with both academic and industrial partners in Barcelona.
What we are looking for:
The selected candidate will develop their thesis within one of the following four research lines:
- Early-age microcracking: monitoring and sensor development
- AI-driven management of sustainable concrete
- Digital twins of construction sites and information management
- Mathematical models for infrastructure impact and infrastructure economics
Eligibility
You must meet at least one of the following:
- Bachelor's degree obtained within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), or
- Master's degree completed or ongoing within the EHEA, or
- Already enrolled in a doctoral programme of a Catalan university.
Requirements
- Weighted average of the bachelor's degree ≥8.50/10 on the Spanish scale.
- Studies giving access to the doctorate completed between 1 January 2023 and the contract start date.
- No previous predoctoral contract.
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics (line 4) or related.
- English, B2 or higher.
