In accordance with the The Competitive Hiring Process Code of Charles University, the Dean of the Faculty of Science of Charles University announces a competitive hiring process with a deadline for applications October 31, 2026
This is a researcher position (VP2). We offer the opportunity to establish a research group that will be based in a Joint laboratory, shared by the Faculty of Science and the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences. A generous, negotiable starting package that includes laboratory and office space, investments in the necessary equipment, consumables, and salaries for several coworkers/students. The candidate will also have access to a fully equipped BSL3 laboratory, and projects utilizing this facility are expected to be a central focus of the research.
We offer: Work in a progressive and collaborative scientific community in the Biotechnological and Biomedical Centrum of the Academy of Sciences and Charles University (BIOCEV), which hosts laboratories belonging to six research institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences and two faculties of Charles University.

Qualifications
Ph.D. degree in a relevant discipline, international postdoc experience in virology
- Expertise in various aspects of infectious virology
- Experience with related experimental techniques.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Independence, accountability, and reliability
- Communication and management skills
- Experience with student leadership
Expertise
- Virology with an emphasis on infectious virology.
