Junior Laboratory Associate (Snow Lab)

The Snow lab at NYU’s Department of Biology is looking for a highly motivated and independent individual to work as a Junior Laboratory Associate. This position is based in New York and the selected candidate will be expected to work onsite as of their effective start date.

This position is for a trainee preparing for a research path. It will provide development of technical skills; supervision by senior scientists incorporating individual development plan in support of training goals and those of faculty mentor; and possible publication of research findings during appointment period.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Assist with ongoing projects in the laboratory.
  • Carry out routine laboratory protocols that include molecular biology techniques, yeast genetics, biochemistry, and microscopy.
  • Maintain accurate lab records in lab notebook.
  • Engage intellectually in the lab’s research projects and contribute to a highly motivated and collaborative lab environment.
  • Help maintain lab supplies, reagents, and equipment.
  • Assist with training and mentoring junior lab personnel.

Projects in the Snow lab focus on defining the molecular and evolutionary basis of cell division and cell signaling, using fungi as primary experimental models. For more information about our past and ongoing work, visit https://www.snow-lab.org.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $58,656. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

The ideal candidate will have a BS or MS in Biology or a related field, at least 1 year of research experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently. Commitment to this position for at least two years is required. A demonstrated background in working with yeast is a plus.
