Junior Network Administrator
Job Description
The Junior Network Administrator works with the Network Administrator to ensure the continued functionality of the universitys phone system, network appliances, and network and assists in engineering, configuration, installation, and administration of those systems and devices. The Junior Network Administrator will assist the Systems Administrator, as needed, to engineer, configure, install, and administer the universitys server environment, related storage, applications, databases, and appliances. The Junior Network Administrator will support and troubleshoot problems pertaining to the universitys phone system and network and assist with problems pertaining to server hardware, server software, storage arrays, appliances, and campus email as needed; assist in the selection and evaluation of products and vendors; assist in handling day-to-day administration of the phone system and network related devices; and assist in handling day-to-day administration of server hardware, server software, storage arrays, appliances, and campus email as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in information technology or a related field
- 3-5 years hardware and software troubleshooting experience
- 2-4 years of server troubleshooting experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in a related discipline
- Advanced technical certification in a technology environment in use by the University (CompTIA Network +, CCNA, or the like)
Job Duties
- promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students and to the community at large
- promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students
- participate on university committees
- troubleshoot, repair and upgrade all server related issues
- establish proper technical documentation and troubleshooting procedures and maintain database for server configuration
- maintain the awareness of key technologies to ensure optimal use of resources
- maintain awareness and knowledge of industry/vendor technology and trends in order to ensure optimal use and value of the server resources
- plan & design new and/or expansion/upgrade projects and oversee installation
- maintain databases for server configurations
- assist the Network and Systems Administrators in designing servers and networks
- provide input in research of new technology purchases
- establish and maintain server hardware, server software, storage arrays, appliances, campus email, and campus networks
- assist in upgrading software as necessary
- complete or assist in the completion of required institutional and program accreditation reports and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of the University
- perform other duties as assigned
