Junior or Assistant Specialist: Laboratory of Tissue Regeneration and Inflammation
Position Overview
The Konieczny Lab in the Department of Developmental and Cell Biology is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual for the position of Research Technician. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of postdoctoral fellows and graduate students to investigate the crosstalk between epithelial stem cells, immune cells, and endothelial cells across various biological contexts. This role offers the opportunity to conduct both in vivo and cell culture experiments, with training in state-of-the-art next-generation sequencing technologies, including single-cell approaches, functional genomics, immune profiling, and advanced microscopy techniques. Our team is dynamic and highly collaborative, providing opportunities for teamwork as well as intellectual and experimental independence. The ideal candidate will possess effective oral and written communication skills, sound decision-making abilities, initiative in problem-solving, and a strong desire to engage with scientific literature and learn new techniques.
This position is an excellent opportunity to acquire in-demand wet lab skills in immunology, stem cell biology, and cancer biology, with the potential to contribute as a co-author on multiple high-impact publications.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs routine technical tasks and assists in general laboratory maintenance (preparation of stock reagents, inventory maintenance)
- Assists with animal breeding, colony maintenance, and in vivo experiments
- Performs cell culture experiments, cryosectioning, immunohistochemistry and microscopy, molecular cloning, and biochemical assays
- Assists with data analysis, manuscript and protocols preparation
Requirements
Junior Specialists: Appointees to the Junior rank should possess a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or equivalent research experience. Assistant Specialists: Appointees to the Assistant rank should possess expertise consistent with four (4) to six (6) years of training and/or experience in the relevant specialization. Appropriate qualifications for appointees at this rank would include possession of a Master's degree in a relevant discipline, or possession of a relevant baccalaureate degree plus three (3) or more years of research experience.
Preferred Requirements
B.S. in Life Sciences or a related field. 2+ years of wet-lab work such as experience with mouse models (blood collection, mouse handling), tissue sectioning, cell culture and immunohistochemistry, and biochemical assays (ELISA, plate reader assays) and/or molecular techniques (DNA and RNA purification, PCR, western blot). Knowledge and experience in biological sciences, including biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, is highly preferred. Candidates should be willing to work with live mice. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. May be required to occasionally work flexible hours due to the nature of laboratory-based experiments.

Salary Range
A reasonable estimate for this position is $55,000 - $70,700.
