Offer Description
The University of Lille, an Experimental Public Institution (EPE), brings together 11 constituent units and 4 member schools around key research and teaching projects. It benefits from the momentum of the Initiative of Excellence, awarded to the Lille site in February 2017 and confirmed in 2022.
The Lille Initiative of Excellence has helped to shape a scientific policy centred on issues relating to societal and environmental transitions. Initially structured around four thematic hubs, it has encouraged interdisciplinary research of high international standing. With the launch of the new five-year contract and the implementation of the 100% COMP, the University of Lille is pursuing a strategy of thematic differentiation through the support provided by the Initiative of Excellence for large-scale interdisciplinary projects (Cross-Disciplinary Projects), which will serve as the foundation for the establishment of Interdisciplinary Federative Research Institutes. These Interdisciplinary Federative Research Institutes (IFIs) will help to structure and enhance the international visibility of Lille’s scientific landscape. In collaboration with the ONRs and other partners of the institution, 16 Interdisciplinary Federative Research Institutes will be progressively established, linked to the 21 postgraduate programmes to be introduced at the start of the 2026 academic year and to the priority areas of the University Innovation Cluster. Three IFIs have already been established; the others, currently in the planning stage, will be set up by 2028/2029.
The University of Lille wishes to utilize the Junior Professorship Scheme (CPJ) to support the establishment and roll-out of these Interdisciplinary Federative Research Institutes. In consultation with the university’s Executive Committee, it has been decided to open a position for a Junior Professorship in the field of defence for 2026, linked to the Institute for Instability, Global Security and Defence, which is currently in the preparatory phase.
