Organization Profile: National Institute of Technology, Warangal (Deemed University), formerly known as Regional Engineering College, was established in 1959. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation stone for this institute on October 10, 1959, the first in the chain of 30 NITs (formerly known as RECs) in the country. The Institute is well known for its dedicated faculty, staff and the state-of-the art infrastructure conducive to a healthy academic environment. The Institute offers eight undergraduate programmes (B.Tech.,) in engineering, Twenty nine post graduate programmes (M.Tech., M.Sc., MCA and MBA) in engineering, sciences and management and research programmes in engineering, sciences, humanities, physical education and management.

Research Position: Junior Research Fellow

Title of the project: Advanced Transport Modelling and Simulation for National Highways in India

Project Details: The research project is intended to develop Indian specific macro model (Computable General Equilibrium Model) for the entire National Highway Network and building of Indian specific urban pervasive data model for Indian cities. This is a joint project between Indian Academy of Highway Engineers (IAHE), IIT Roorkee, and University of New South Wales, Australia and NIT Warangal.

Essential Qualifications:

• B.E./ B.Tech/ in Civil Engineering with First class/Division
• ME/M.Tech in Transportation Engineering with First Class/Division
• GATE Qualifying Desirable

Desirable Qualifications:

• A prior knowledge of below mentioned skills is desirable
• Travel Demand Models
• Traffic simulation models
• Proficient in Travel behavior modelling and Good analytical ability and competency in writing skills; Programming Skills: C++, Python, GIS

Project Duration: 3 years

Stipend: Rs 37,000/- per month first two years and Rs 42,000/- per month during third year based on performance
