We are seeking applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the field of “Hydrogen Storage in 2D materials: Density Functional Theory Simulations”. The primary objectives of this position include publishing research articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

ELIGIBILITY AND EXPERIENCE

• M.Sc. in Chemistry/Physics/Materials Science/ Nanotechnology or a relevant discipline
• Candidates must have obtained their degrees with a first-class.
• Candidates with a computational background or a track record of quality publications will be given preference
• Preference will be given to candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC NET (JRF/ILS) or GATE
• Ability to work closely and collaborate with colleagues is essential.

SALARY

The stipend will be as per the norms of the Institute. The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students.

DURATION

Initial appointment for one year, with the possibility of an extension of up to 2 years based on performance.

AREA OF RESEARCH

The work involves Density Functional Theory simulation to design 2D Nanomaterials promising for hydrogen storage. The adsorption energy of hydrogen molecules, gravimetric weight percentage interactions of H molecules, stability of the systems needs to be computed through sophisticated quantum simulations. Dispersion corrections need to be implemented in DFT simulations. Charge transfer, orbital interactions, and other electronic properties need to be investigated.
