Job Position: Junior Research Fellow

Project Title: Development of an optimized and efficient lithium-ion battery thermal management system for electric vehicles utilizing phase change material and metal foam composites

Funded by: DST-SERB, Govt. of India

Qualification: B.Tech/B.E. or equivalent with the minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks with valid GATE score, or M.Tech/M.E. or equivalent with the minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks with valid/invalid GATE score.

Degree Requirements: The candidate should have B.Tech/B.E. degree in Chemical Engineering/Technology, Biochemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Electrochemical Engineering, Energy Science/Engineering, or any related field. GATE, NET qualification in related discipline is required. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in theoretical/experimental/computational fluid dynamics and heat transfer and basic knowledge of CFD tools such as Ansys/Comsol/OpenFoam.

Age Limit: The upper age limit is 28 years (B.Tech/B.E.) or 32 years (M.Tech/M.E.). Relaxations for SC/ST/OBC/Women/PD candidates as per GOI rules.

Key Responsibilities:

• Research work: Conduct literature review, problem formulation, modelling and simulation, and data analysis; set up experimental facilities.
• Project Assistance: Assist the PI in project planning, design, and execution.
• Data interpretation: Analyze research data and interpret results.
• Report writing: Prepare progress reports, research articles, proposals, and presentations.
• Collaboration: Work with PhD students and lab members; collaborate with researchers.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to ethical guidelines and protocols.
• Professional Development: Attend seminars, conferences, and workshops.

Duration of the post: Initially 1 year, may be extended up to 3 years upon satisfactory performance. Opportunity for Ph.D. admission at IIT Patna.

Pay Scale: Rs. 37,000/- pm (first two years) and Rs. 42,000/- pm (third year) + HRA as applicable.
