"Junior Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow"

The Speech & Language Technologies Laboratory of SNU Chennai, headed by Dr. T. Nagarajan, is seeking applications for the post of Junior/Senior Research Fellow. They will be working on National Language Translation Mission (NLTM): BHASHINI, funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Govt. of India (a consortium project headed by IIT Madras). The objective is to develop Indian Language technology systems & products and deploy them in the field with the help of start-ups. Prof. T. Nagarajan is leading the Prosody modelling (for e.g., stress, intonation, emotions in speech) part of the project. The candidate’s day-to-day role will involve developing signal processing and incorporating prosody (emotions) in Text-to-speech synthesis systems to achieve better naturalness in synthetic speech.

WHO CAN APPLY?

• Applicants with B.E./B.Tech. in ECE/EEE/BME or CSE/IT
• Applicants with M.E./M.Tech. (with the option to register for PhD in SNU Chennai)
• Applicants with Ph.D. degree interested in continuing research as a post-doctoral fellow in speech technology

OTHER PREFERRED SKILLS: In-depth knowledge in digital signal processing (preferably in speech signal processing), Natural Language Processing, machine learning for speech applications; Comfortable with Linux

Pay Scale: Based on academic qualifications and experience (INR 25,000 to 60,000 including HRA)
