Organization Profile: Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM), Kancheepuram is an Institution of National Importance established in 2007 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and is located at outskirts of Chennai (Off Vandalur-Kelambakkam Road). It is a Centre of Excellence for pursuing Design and Manufacturing Oriented Engineering Education and Research and for promoting competitive advantage of Indian products in global markets.

IIITDM Kancheepuram is presently offering undergraduate, postgraduate, dual-degree programmes in the areas of Computer, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering and inter-disciplinary Ph.D. programmes in core and applied areas of basic sciences (Physics and Mathematics) and engineering. It functions with the vision to groom engineers with design and manufacturing skills. The institute gives significant amount of emphasis for practice courses and theory concepts are also explored along with the relevant laboratory course.

Research Position: Junior Research Fellow

Title of the project: HiFi GENIE-High precision Fire detection system using smart decision support with GEO assisted Navigation for Industry 4.0 Establishment

Sponsoring/Funding Agency: Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) – Department of Science and Technology (DST)

Essential Qualifications:

First Class B.E/B.Tech and M.E/M.Tech in Computer Science/ IT /Electronic Communication Engineering (or related areas, such as Networking, IoT, Cloud Computing, Wireless Communication/ Information Security etc.) (or) First class with B.E/B.Tech in Computer Science/ IT /Electronic Communication Engineering (or related areas, such as Networking, IoT, Cloud Computing, Wireless Communication / Information Security etc.) and valid GATE Score.

Desirable Qualifications:

1. Basic knowledge of wireless communications, IoT, Cloud Computing

2. Work/Project development experience using Micro controllers (e.g. Arduino or Raspberry-pi) and software such as NS-3, Python etc.

Project Duration: 8 months

Stipend: Rs. 31,000 per month
