Working alongside researchers from NYUAD and Emirates Nature–WWF, the successful candidate will contribute to marine habitat mapping, spatial analysis, and environmental data integration to support fisheries management and marine conservation.
The Junior Research Scientist will support the acquisition, processing, and analysis of marine spatial and environmental datasets collected throughout the project. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will assist in developing habitat maps, managing spatial databases, integrating environmental monitoring data, and producing analytical outputs that inform conservation planning and fisheries management.
The role combines office-based spatial analysis with opportunities to participate in field surveys, environmental monitoring, and marine habitat assessments across the UAE.
The successful candidate will assist with processing GIS, bathymetric, habitat, and environmental datasets, maintaining project databases, and supporting the development of habitat maps and spatial products. Responsibilities include assisting with side-scan sonar and underwater imagery processing, data quality assurance, statistical analyses, and preparation of maps, figures, reports, and scientific publications.
The Junior Research Scientist will also participate in field campaigns to collect environmental and spatial reference data and contribute to project reporting and stakeholder deliverables.
