Junior Research Scientist (PI: Dr. Kenny L. Chan)
A junior research scientist position is available in the laboratory of Kenny Chan, PhD in the Department of Molecular Pathobiology at the NYU College of Dentistry. The Chan Lab studies bi-directional gut-brain communication during psychosocial stress, with an emphasis on neuroimmune interactions. We integrate techniques from the fields of neuroscience, immunology, and gastroenterology to identify circuits, cell types and secreted factors that modulate behavior and gastrointestinal physiology.
Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly-organized applicant with experience in animal work, cell culture, and biochemistry laboratory techniques. The junior research associate will work alongside a team of postdoctoral researchers in performing experiments, and be responsible for lab organization and animal colony maintenance.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $40,000.00 -$47,500.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grand funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field. Experience working in a basic science laboratory, with experience working with rodents in research preferred. Interpersonal skills to work as part of a team and participate in departmental events.
