Position Summary
Trinity College seeks to hire the K.W. Davis Endowed Professor of Economic Organizations and Innovation beginning January 2026 or possibly later. We seek scholars who are committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and research. The position is funded by the Shelby Cullom Davis Endowment for American Business and Economic Enterprise at Trinity College, which was created to foster understanding of, and promote the activity of entrepreneurship and the operation of a market economy.
This is a non-tenured Named Professorship with an initial three year contract with eligibility for five year contracts afterwards. This type of position and the renewal process will be clearly specified in the appointment letter. If the initial appointment is not at the level of Full Professor, promotion is possible.
Qualifications
Ph.D. or equivalent. Ph.D. in Economics, Sociology, History, or related field, or equivalent terminal degree, such as J.D.
Ideal candidates have experience with rigorous student centered pedagogy that develops transferable skills in composition, research, public speaking, and full and fair consideration of diverse viewpoints in the spirit of the liberal arts. A preference will be given to candidates with interdisciplinary interests. Candidates will teach four courses per year, and are eligible for a one-semester leave every fourth year. in the Formal Organizations program, based on their specific interests and area of disciplinary competence from a broad established curriculum. Sample courses include: Formal Organizations and Market Behavior, Entrepreneurship and Markets, Entrepreneurship and Society, Issues in Methodological Individualism, Exit Voice and Power in Organizations, Normative Analysis of Organizations, College, Sports Organizations, and Matching Markets.
Compensation
Competitive salary and benefits, plus start-up expense fund.
