Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Kaitātari pūnaha - Systems Administrator to join the Systems Team in Te Tai Matihiko - Digital Solutions on a permanent, full-time basis.

Key responsibilities:

  • Administer and support enterprise on‑prem and cloud systems.
  • Monitor system performance and resolve issues to minimise outages.
  • Provide second and third‑level technical support within service levels.
  • Contribute to improvement work and projects through Agile practices.

You are a technically capable Kaitātari pūnaha - Systems Administrator who is a keen team contributor, eager to learn, and will bring with you strong problem-solving skills. Your skills and experience will enable you to support the Systems team in providing a secure, flexible, and robust technology foundation that supports innovation, integration, collaboration, and operational excellence.

You will have:

  • Hands‑on experience administering Microsoft‑based enterprise systems and cloud services in a hybrid or large‑scale environment.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues using structured troubleshooting practices.
  • Scripting and automation skills used to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and security.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to work productively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders and customers.
  • A proactive approach to learning, willingness to take ownership of unfamiliar problems, and adaptability as technologies and platforms evolve.
