Offer Description
Background of the recruitment and description of the project
The Institute for Advanced Biosciences (IAB) at Keio University is inviting applications for the "Keio IAB Young Independent Research Fellow" position. This program targets early-career researchers (within approximately seven years of obtaining their doctorate) who wish to pursue independent research themes as a Principal Investigator. Appointees will receive an annual research budget of approximately 2 million JPY and are eligible to apply for external funding, such as KAKENHI grants. We welcome original research proposals across the broad spectrum of biosciences and life sciences—spanning computational and experimental approaches, as well as basic and applied research—that leverage IAB’s extensive state-of-the-art facilities. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, multi-omics, AI, computational life science, systems biology, synthetic biology, microbiology, biomaterials, cancer research, medical science, and environmental life science. Applications are welcome from those expecting to receive their doctorate by the time of appointment and from researchers currently residing overseas; applications may be submitted in either Japanese or English. Informal inquiries prior to application and preliminary consultations with potential mentors are also welcome.
