Essential Job Duties:
This position provides critical support for hospitalized patients through the rigorous sanitation of housing environments and direct assistance to veterinary clinical teams. Coverage includes the General Hospital (GH), Intermediate Care (IMC), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and Emergency (ER) departments within the Randall B. Terry Jr. Companion Animal Medical Center.
The successful candidate must possess foundational knowledge of veterinary clinical operations and a commitment to excel in a high-volume, academic teaching environment. This role requires seamless interaction with faculty, staff, and students to maintain a sterile and therapeutic environment for patients requiring specialized care for complex medical conditions.
The Impact You'll Make:
- Clinical Excellence: Directly support veterinary technicians and clinicians with patient treatments, including vitals (TPR), safe restraint, and diagnostic sample submissions.
- Advanced Biosafety: Serve as the frontline of defense against infectious diseases by managing rigorous sanitation protocols, antibiotic-resistant housing, and isolation ward stewardship.
- Patient Advocacy: Ensure our patients remain clean, dry, and comfortable during their recovery through proactive monitoring and specialized care.
- Collaborative Teaching: Integrate with a varied team of faculty, students, and staff to coordinate individualized patient housing and communicate critical diagnostic data through our hospital information systems.
- Operational Leadership: Manage essential logistics, from medical inventory and equipment maintenance to the orientation of senior veterinary students on clinical standards.

Minimum Experience/Education:
Completion of an accredited training program in the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a kennel attendant in a clinical setting; preferably at a teaching hospital.
- Proficiency in documenting patient care, coordinating services, and managing billing, estimates, and charge entry within a hospital information system.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with experience collaborating with clinicians, students, clients, referring veterinarians, and interdisciplinary teams while adhering to established safety and infectious disease protocols
