Description
The Kwaserion Institute for Energy Systems and Quantum Technologies, Canada invites expressions of interest from externally funded researchers seeking a host institution for a temporary research stay in Canada under the Kwaserion International Research Residency 2026.
Kwaserion welcomes applications from PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career scholars whose research aligns with the Institute’s focus areas, including energy systems, thermal engineering, computational fluid dynamics, porous structures, energy storage, artificial intelligence for engineering, and quantum optimization.
Selected researchers will have the opportunity to undertake a defined research project within a focused international research environment and may receive:
- institutional research affiliation
- access to relevant research infrastructure, including GPU-enabled computational resources where applicable
- academic and research mentorship
- opportunity for collaborative research development and scholarly dissemination
Duration
3 to 12 months, depending on the research proposal, institutional fit, and available hosting capacity.
Funding Condition
This hosting opportunity is intended for externally funded researchers. Applicants must have confirmed funding from their home institution, scholarship body, grant provider, or other recognized sponsor sufficient to cover their travel, accommodation, living expenses, health insurance, and any immigration-related costs.
Where applicable, any research support costs associated with specialized infrastructure, administrative processing, or project-specific institutional support must be agreed in writing in advance and covered through the researcher’s confirmed external funding or sponsoring institution.
Eligibility
Applicants should:
- be currently enrolled in a PhD program, hold a postdoctoral appointment, or be an early-career scholar
- have a strong research proposal aligned with Kwaserion’s areas of interest- see https://kwaserion.ca
- demonstrate suitable academic background and institutional affiliation
- show evidence of confirmed external funding for the proposed stay
