Responsibilities • Prepares yeast or mammalian cell lysates and growth media. (35%)• Assists the Principal Investigator in nucleic acid or protein isolation and purification (10%)• Performs molecular and cell biology techniques: PCR, immunofluorescence and immunoblotting• Maintains laboratory stocks of sterile microfuge tubes, culture tubes, tips and replica-plating cloth (35%)• Maintains accurate and detailed experimental records (10%) This job description is not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities and qualifications required of employees assigned to the job. Minimum Qualifications This is an entry level position and on the job training is provided. The ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions; the ability to keep accurate records; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. A general knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment and terminology; the ability to operate and care for laboratory equipment; and a knowledge of appropriate specimen handling techniques preferred. Preferences • Bachelor's degree with Biology, Biochemistry or other equivalent scientific discipline as the major.• Previous laboratory experience is highly preferred.• Demonstrated team orientation, strong organizational skills and effective communication skills.• Highly motivated toward discovery and application of findings to human health.• Good working knowledge of lab procedures and the basic concepts in Biology and Chemistry.• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. • Our laboratory is grounded on the principle of hard work and innovative discoveries.
