Lab Animal Technician 1 - Lab Animal Services

Augusta University is Georgia's innovation center for education and health care. The Division of Laboratory Animal Services facilitates the research and teaching mission by meeting animal research needs while ensuring ethical treatment.

Job Summary: This position requires manual labor in the care and feeding of laboratory animals. Duties include feeding and watering animals, cleaning cages, and observing for abnormalities. Work is performed under general supervision.

Responsibilities: Feed and water animals; clean and sanitize utensils and cages; observe and report abnormal findings; change bedding; disinfect areas; notify supervisor of environmental issues; maintain supplies; participate in continuing education.

Required Qualifications: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications: Degree, certification, or experience in Laboratory Animal Science; knowledge of animal husbandry.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Proficient in Microsoft Office; excellent communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality and work with animals.

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday. Pay Grade: B2. Salary commensurate with qualifications.
