Lab Manager
The UT Larynx Lab, led by Dr. Adrianna Shembel, invites applications for a highly motivated and organized Lab Manager. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in voice science, speech-motor control, and vocal health, with a focus on projects using 3D motion capture, acoustic analysis, and physiological recordings to study laryngeal function and vocal effort.
The UT Larynx Lab investigates the neurophysiological and biomechanical mechanisms of voice production. Our interdisciplinary work bridges speech science, cognitive neuroscience, and biomedical engineering to examine vocal fatigue, vocal motor learning, sensorimotor control, and higher-order perceptual processes.
We use state-of-the-art tools, including:
- High-resolution 3D motion capture to study head, neck, and laryngeal kinematics
- Acoustic and aerodynamic voice assessment
- Human subject experimental paradigms involving vocal load and effort
- Advanced signal processing and machine learning for data analysis
Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications. This is a grant-funded position, and continued employment is contingent on the availability of funds and satisfactory performance.
