Quinnipiac University's School of Health Sciences invites
applications for a Lab Operations Manager to serve the Department
of Biomedical Sciences to support microbiology instructional,
operational, and laboratory preparation needs and its associated
preparation areas. This exciting opportunity contributes to the
education and training of future healthcare and biomedical
professionals, while ensuring the efficient operation of a dynamic
academic laboratory environment. This Laboratory Operations Manager
will work closely with faculty, staff, and students to support
laboratory-based instruction across undergraduate and graduate

About the School/Program:
The School of Health Sciences is home to approximately 100
full-time faculty and staff and enrolls over 2,500 students across
30 graduate and undergraduate academic programs. The school is
organized into seven departments offering undergraduate majors in
biomedical sciences, diagnostic medical sonography, exercise
science, health science studies, medical microbiology &
immunology and radiologic sciences, and graduate programs in
advanced medical imagining & leadership, biomedical sciences,
cardiovascular perfusion, occupational therapy, pathologists’
assistant, physician assistant, physical therapy and social work.
The school also offers entry-level dual-degrees for occupational
therapy, physician assistant and physical therapy. Our school

Responsibilities:
- Support mission, visions, and core values of Quinnipiac
University, its School of Health Sciences and Department of
Biomedical Science
- Prepare and support microbiology laboratory courses by setting
up equipment, supplies, reagents, media, specimens, models, and
instructional materials, equipment upkeep, inventory management,
lab resources coordination
- Manage daily operation, organization, and maintenance of
microbiology laboratory, preparation, supplies procurement,
biosafety and university safety policies compliance, equipment and
supplies storage, and shared-use spaces
- Collaborate with faculty to prepare laboratories for
instructional activities and evaluate laboratory procedures,
protocols, and equipment prior to implementation
- Maintain inventories of laboratory supplies, chemicals,
reagents, biological specimens, equipment, instrumentation, and
instructional materials
- Coordinate purchasing, receiving, storage, distribution, and
recordkeeping for laboratory supplies, equipment, and consumable
materials O
- perate, maintain, troubleshoot, and coordinate servicing,
calibration, and repair of laboratory equipment and
instrumentation
- Work with the Department Chair to monitor laboratory budgets,
expenditures, purchasing activities, and service agreements
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise student workers and
laboratory assistants
- Ensure that laboratory facilities, equipment, and environmental
conditions are maintained to support safe and effective
instructional and research activities
- Promote and maintain compliance with university policies and
applicable local, state, and federal regulations governing
laboratory operations
- Collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety personnel
regarding chemical hygiene, hazardous waste management, biological
safety, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance
- Assisting faculty to implement new laboratory exercises and
educational initiatives
- Maintain laboratory safety records and assist with inspections,
audits, accreditation activities, and other compliance reviews
- Support faculty and student research activities and assist with
experimental procedures using appropriate microbiology techniques
and instrumentation
- Serve as a liaison between the laboratory and university
departments, service providers, vendors, and external partners
- Collaborate with Information Technology personnel regarding
laboratory software, instrumentation interfaces, and technology
support
- Attend departmental, school, and university meetings as
required
- Perform any other related duties assigned by supervisor, Dean,
or his/her/their designee
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biomedical sciences,
biology, or a closely related field
- Preferred Qualification: Master’s degree in a relevant
scientific discipline.
Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of experience in laboratory operations or
management
- Strong understanding of lab safety practices, chemical
handling, and hazardous materials management
- Excellent organizational skills and technical proficiency in
lab equipment and inventory systems
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to
supervise student workers and collaborate with faculty
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse
populations and contribute positively to the university
community
