Labor & Employee Relations Analyst Confidential Administrative Support II

In this role, you'll be at the heart of programs that shape the employee experience—supporting telecommuting, employee and labor relations, and disability accommodations—all while handling sensitive matters with professionalism and care. Key Responsibilities

  • Be the go-to resource for SDSU's telecommuting program, coordinating agreements and helping resolve employee concerns.
  • Provide critical support for employee relations matters, including performance, corrective actions, and exit data.
  • Partner on labor relations initiatives by tracking grievances, assisting with union requests, and ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Support employees and applicants through the disability accommodations process, ensuring inclusivity and compliance.
  • Manage sensitive, confidential fact-finding requests with accuracy, discretion, and care.
  • Deliver excellent service while building trust and relationships across the university community.

Position Information

  • Full-time, benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
  • Position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
  • This position is eligible for telecommuting 1 day per week, following a training period during which on-site presence is required.

Education and Experience

A basic foundation of knowledge of the principles of organization, administration and management; and the ability to analyze and find solutions to problems, work independently, communicate effectively, and write clear and concise reports. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree or professional training program specific to the position and directly related work experience, or a combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

This would normally be demonstrated by a bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years of Human Resources experience OR any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience working effectively with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and accountability.
  • The ability to remain composed and professional under pressure, even in contentious or challenging situations.
  • Strong communicator, with excellent oral, written, and active listening skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when addressing and resolving highly complex and sensitive employment related matters.
  • A strong ability to engage with employees, managers, and union reps in a responsive, empathetic, and solutions-focused way.
  • Comfort with navigating evolving HR policies, labor agreements, and workplace trends.
  • Ability to mediate workplace issues, facilitate discussions, and support fair resolutions.
  • General knowledge of organizational management and HR practices, with the ability to apply them to support effective operations.

San Diego State University offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and professional growth.

Compensation:

  • Salary is based on your experience, education, and qualifications, within the department's budget and equity guidelines. The hiring salary is not expected to exceed $4,687/month.
