Laboratory Aide - Summer (Institute for Computational Medicine)
We are seeking a Laboratory Aide - Summer that carries out experiments under close supervision of a faculty investigator, senior technician, or postdoctoral fellow in a laboratory. Follows routine protocols under close supervision.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Use basic science knowledge to learn techniques and methods of the lab.
- Perform laboratory tests and/or experiments following established procedures or protocols.
- Operate laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Develop a basic tracking database/spreadsheet based on study requirements utilizing Excel, Access, or similar software applications.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records, present data summaries, identify and resolve common problems, and use basic analytical skills to implement assigned projects.
- Use basic laboratory skills: processing, storing, labeling, and identifying study samples.
- Maintain and make minor adjustments to equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a high school diploma with some science coursework.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
