Offer Description
The successful candidate will join the Structure and Cell Biology of Viruses Laboratory at Instituto Biofisika (IBF), working on the project "Unraveling Viral Pathogenesis through Structural Analysis of Virus-Host Interactions and Assembly" (PID2024-160051NB-I00, funded by MICIU/AEI and ERDF/EU).
The research focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying virus assembly, cell entry and antibody recognition, combining structural and functional approaches. The position will involve supporting virus production and purification, preparation and handling of samples for structural studies, cryo-EM and cryo-ET experiments, image processing and analysis, and general laboratory activities.
Applicants should hold a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering or a closely related discipline, with an outstanding academic record and strong motivation for experimental research. Interest in structural biology, virology, cryo-EM/cryo-ET or related fields is expected. Previous experience in these areas is an advantage but is not essential, as training will be provided.
The successful candidate is expected to start before November 2026. Candidates interested in subsequently pursuing a PhD within the group will be positively considered.
