The Laboratory Coordinator I is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, including fixing and maintaining equipment, ordering supplies, ensuring a clean and orderly workspace, assisting with data analysis and interpretation, and supervising undergraduate employees.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintenance and repair of the Organic Geochemistry Laboratory equipment, including but not limited to gas chromatographs, liquid chromatographs & mass spectrometers.
- Maintain an orderly workspace, including documentation of all protocols and procedures and a calendar for laboratory and machine use.
- Prepare samples for analysis as needed and conduct data analysis, including data quality control checks. Train students in data analysis and quality control.
- Supervision of undergraduate student employees and students conducting capstone and/or thesis research, including training students in laboratory protocols.
- Ordering of consumable supplies for the Organic Geochemistry Laboratory, including but not limited to chemicals, glassware, gels, replaceable machine parts, and office supplies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The ideal candidate will:
- Have strong organizational skills.
- Be able to independently fix machines and/or instruments.
- Have strong interpersonal skills.
- Communicate effectively with different groups and individuals.
- Have some knowledge of coding languages, such as MATLAB or Python.
- Be enthusiastic about working with undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers in a laboratory setting.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
- 1 year of relevant work experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Although not required, a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant discipline to the position, i.e., chemistry, biology, environmental science, geography, or geoscience, is preferred.
- Previous experience with organic geochemical equipment and analyses is welcomed, though not required.
