Support operations at the St John's Island National Marine Lab, primarily lab management for researchers using Biosafety Level 2 aquaria and mariculture facilities.

Job Description

• Assist with the management of research labs and aquaria including specialist Biosafety Level 2 and mariculture facilities.
• Conduct training for researchers using research facilities at the marine lab.
• Assist with housekeeping, maintenance of equipment, safety management and procurement for the facility.
• Assist with facility events, outreach and education activities, as assigned.
• Support activities for overall management of facility as assigned.

Qualifications

• Degree in Life Science with modules in Aquatic Biology, Marine Biology or Aquaculture. Diploma holders with 2-3 years relevant experience may be considered.
• Experience with marine aquaculture and/or microbiology would be an advantage.
• Good communication and team work skills is essential.
• A Class 3 driving license would be useful.
• Preferably able to swim, and able/willing to work outdoors.
• Job location is the St John's Island National Marine Lab located on St John's Island. Ferry transport will be provided.
