1Job Description
A newly established research group at the Department of Biochemistry is seeking a Laboratory Manager to support the scientific and organizational operation of the laboratory. The group focuses on biomolecular structure and its role in cellular signaling and function, using molecular, biochemical, and structural approaches. The position is funded by secured grant funding and offers the opportunity to contribute to both laboratory organization and hands-on experimental work, with the prospect of longer-term collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day operation of the laboratory
- Ordering consumables and reagents; communication with suppliers
- Maintaining laboratory inventories (reagents, samples, cell lines)
- Managing laboratory documentation
- Training new laboratory members in basic procedures
- Hands-on experimental work, including:
- Cloning, expression, and purification of proteins
- Establishment and maintenance of cell lines
- Molecular biology and biochemical techniques
Skills and Qualifications
The applicant should have:
- MSc degree in life sciences (molecular biology, biochemistry, or related fields) or PhD
- Prior laboratory experience
- Solid knowledge of basic molecular biology and biochemical methods
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Reliability, responsibility, and motivation to support laboratory operation
- Willingness to learn new methods and approaches as the research group develops
- Good communication skills (oral and written) in Czech/Slovak language
- Knowledge of spoken and written English, enabling work in an international environment
