Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry,
genetics or related field
- A combination of education and related
technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted
for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
- One (1) year professional-level research experience
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of
hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry,
genetics or related field
- Two (2) years of experience in an experimental or wet
laboratory
- Three (3) or more years of professional level experience in
basic research in the visual sciences
- Three (3) or more years of professional level research
experience in culture and differentiation of stem cells, especially
human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs)
- Demonstrated experience in stem-cell derived 3D systems,
particularly hiPSC-derived retinal organoids
- Experience in cell biology techniques, including tissue
processing, confocal microscopy, and immune-based assays
- Experience in molecular biology techniques, including nucleic
acid and protein isolation, cDNA synthesis, real time PCR, western
blot and electrophoresis
- Track of co-authored publications in relevant fields
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including
safety procedures and techniques
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and
orally
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with employees at all levels throughout the
institution
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical
terminology
- Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol
