Laboratory Storekeeper

Description of Work:

The laboratory storekeeper will coordinate, in conjunction with the lab manager, the undergraduate general Chemistry teaching labs and stockroom in Hamilton Hall. It is expected that the laboratory storekeeper will be familiar with the material to be covered in each lab on a day to day basis; including required chemicals, equipment, and any other materials. The laboratory storekeeper will assist the undergraduate lab TAs with the day to day procedures of the lab. This position requires knowledge of chemicals, chemistry lab glassware, equipment and safe lab practices.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

• Associates degree in chemistry, or closely related field, with two years of related experience in laboratory experimentation; combination of equivalent education and experience will be considered.
• Previous experience in laboratory classroom/stockroom environment with the handling of chemicals.
• Knowledge of chemistry lab glassware, equipment, reagents and safe lab practices.
• Work history will have demonstrated excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in chemistry, or closely related field.
• Experience assisting in the coordination of a chemical laboratory/stockroom and/or supervising of TA's/students.
• Preferred experience assisting in the coordination of a lab and/or supervising employees.
• Attention to detail, a high level of accuracy, ability to multi-task and work within established procedures preferred.

Posted Salary: $16.00/hr minimum
