Laboratory Technician II
Position Purpose
To perform routine experiments and laboratory duties in support of research efforts by the Ghosh laboratory.
Description
The technician will join a research team (https://www.diponghoshlab.com/) interested in learning more about how nervous systems work. The team uses genetic, cell biological, and behavioral approaches to study how a nematode roundworm Caenorhabditis elegans responds to environmental stimuli (for example, see Ghosh et al., Science 2021 371:1059-1063).
Experiments
- Performs routine tests required in support of laboratory work and experiments.
- Follows established safety procedures.
Percentage Of Time: 60%
Records
- Maintains laboratory records of procedures.
- May assist in preparing laboratory reports.
- Records experimental data from research using graphs, logs, charts and statistical summaries.
- May perform limited library research and reference work for background materials.
Percentage Of Time: 10%
Laboratory
- Maintains stock of biomedical and other supplies.
- Requisitions laboratory stock items and equipment.
- Performs general laboratory maintenance as required.
Percentage Of Time: 25%
Miscellaneous
- May assist in surgical procedures.
- Communicates respectfully with a diverse community.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Percentage Of Time: 5%
