About the role

The Human Developmental Biology Resource (HDBR) is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join the team. HDBR is a MRC/Wellcome-funded national fetal tissue bank that collects and stores human embryonic and fetal samples, and provides this material for scientific and medical research into genetic and developmental disorders (e.g. birth defects). The HDBR also performs project work on behalf of researchers to analyse gene expression during human embryonic development. The appointee will participate in the laboratory work and administration that underpins the resource. Out-of-hours (evening) work is expected on 2-3 days per week, and some tissue collection duties in clinics may also be required. Further information about the HDBR can be found at www.hdbr.org. The salary offered in this role is £36,433 - £38,199 per annum and it is initially funded until February 2028 in the first instance.

About you

The post-holder must have a BSc Hons in a relevant subject and basic laboratory experience: e.g. in molecular or cell biology techniques. Experience of tissue dissection, histology and gene expression analysis is desirable. The post-holder must have excellent organisational skills and be able work both collaboratively as part of a team, and independently with minimal supervision.
