Position Summary:

This position works directly with Dr. Peter Dijkstra and his team to study behavioral decision making, social competition, and stress resilience in fish.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience in the performance of standard laboratory procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree.
• Reasonable knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in laboratory activities.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Conducts physiological assays, including mitochondrial respiration, redox/oxidative stress measurements, and hormone analyses, ensuring high data quality and reproducibility.
• Manages daily laboratory operations, including scheduling, workflow coordination, and maintaining a safe, efficient research environment.
• Maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment, coordinate calibrations and service contracts, and ensure proper instrument performance.
• Maintains reagents and consumables supplies.
• Develops, maintains, and enforces standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance with institutional safety, biosafety, and regulatory guidelines.
• Trains and supervises students and staff in laboratory techniques, safety practices, and proper data collection and documentation.

Pay Range: $17.00 - $26.50 per hour, estimated salary between $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
