The North Carolina State University Facilities Division ensures that the campus’s physical environment supports the university’s mission 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Campus Planning and Strategic Investment optimizes the design and use of campus land, buildings, and infrastructure to support the university’s mission.
Essential Job Duties
As our next Landscape Architect, you’ll help translate NC State’s strategic vision into the physical spaces that bring it to life. General scope of duties includes translating strategic plans into physical facilities, providing solutions for landscape architectural and engineering planning issues, and coordinating planning efforts with campus design professionals.
Typical duties include developing physical facilities planning and design strategies for exterior campus spaces, conducting comparative studies, identifying project alternatives, recommending actions to support the Physical Master Plan, preparing feasibility studies, developing and monitoring project budgets, and establishing project schedules and documentation.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in the Engineering discipline related to the area of assignment or equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge and application of NC building codes, understanding of building design and construction, experience with civil/landscape architectural/utility systems, and proven project management experience required.
Other Required Qualifications
- Analyze programmatic requirements to develop project outlines, cost estimates, timelines, and planning strategies
- Evaluate consultant design proposals
- Lead stakeholder meetings
- Use AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other design software
Preferred Qualifications
Licensure as a Professional Engineer or Landscape Architect in North Carolina, experience presenting to committees, demonstrated ability in strategic planning.
Required License(s) or Certification(s)
Valid North Carolina Driver’s License (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire). Licensure as a Professional Engineer or Landscape Architect by the North Carolina Board.
