Landscape Planner
Responsible for improving in-house staff productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through the meticulous planning and coordination of labor, parts, materials, plant materials, and equipment access. Works with Business Administration and shop supervisors to set up and oversee in-house Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Serves as a primary internal liaison for Landscape Services and the University Landscape Architect (ULA) regarding in-house activities; sets up and procures equipment rentals and provides Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans to the Department of Public Safety (DPS) for all internal projects.
The Landscape Planner is responsible for the selection, procurement, and delivery of plant materials and other critical items for in-house projects. Works with the FOD stockroom to build and oversee efficient processes for parts/material procurement. This role works closely with landscape and campus shops to ensure all activities align with university policy. Additionally, the Specialist collaborates with shop supervision and contract manager to develop long- and short-term maintenance plans for in-house equipment.
A core component of this role involves utilizing the department's CMMS software to manage staff scheduling, building comprehensive Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs, and establishing standard processes to drive operational efficiencies. The position is responsible for building, standardizing, and overseeing in-house inspection processes for the department.
Attends meetings; assures properly completed documentation. Provides a high level of customer service; communicates to customers, coworkers and supervision via written, electronic and verbal methods and devices. The position leads landscape emergency responses, oversees flood warehouse and equipment, and works with student groups and campus community projects such as Seeds of Service and Arboblitz to promote community awareness and collaboration. Performs other duties as assigned.
This position works Monday - Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, but is subject to changes in shift, hours, days, and/or location as operations dictated in accordance with the Disaster Preparedness and University State of Emergency Policy 6.17 this position has been designated as essential short-term status and standby long-term status and will require the successful completion of a criminal background check.
