The hourly rate is $15.00 which translates to $31,200.00 per year.
General Schedule
The general schedule for this position is 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 3:00 pm; shifts outside of the general schedule may be required, when necessary.
Position Overview
Performs a variety of landscaping duties (e.g. sod laying, mowing, trimming shrubs, planting, watering, fertilizing) to sustain the campus grounds of the University of Central Oklahoma.
This position is deemed mission essential. Incumbent must be available to help with or fully abate a facilities emergency. In the case of inclement weather or other emergency situations, the incumbent is expected to report to work as directed. A pre-arranged shift change may be implemented for predictable emergencies like inclement weather.
Job Duties
- Maintains campus lawns by mowing, raking, edging, trimming, fertilizing, and using weed control methods.
- Prepares flower beds for growing annuals and bulbs and other areas for seed and sod.
- Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs.
- Maintains campus shrubs by watering, spraying, weeding, and cleaning shrub plantings.
- Maintains driveways and walkways by spreading salt to remove ice buildup and shoveling snow.
- Maintains campus grounds by removing litter, sweeping, and cleaning around trash dumpsters and containers, and collecting rubbish left on campus.
- Provides sign and fence installation.
- Assists with artificial turf maintenance in sports complex.
- Performs duties associated with special events.
- Observes, communicates, complies with, and enforces Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) provisions.
- Uses various hand tools and gas-powered tools and ensures tools are maintained properly.
- Operates water tanker with pumps, and sprayers as needed.
- Operates roto tillers, lawn sweepers, sprayers, aerators, and tractors as needed.
- May operate tractors and bobcats to remove snow and ice from drives and walkways.
- May assist the Irrigation Technician.
- May make minor repairs on equipment.
- Performs other related duties as necessary to support the UCO mission.
