Essential Job Duties:
The Large Animal Clinical Technician Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing the veterinary technician and assistant staff within the Equine and Farm Animal Veterinary Center (EFAVC). This role ensures an exceptional clinical learning environment for fourth-year veterinary students, provides high-level technical support across specialty services, and maintains superior patient care and customer service standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
Staff Management & Operational Leadership
- Direct, coordinate, and schedule EFAVC Clinical Technicians and assistants to ensure seamless daily clinical operations.
- Consult daily with specialty clinicians to align staffing support with patient care demands and service workflows.

- Oversee patient care workflows to guarantee high-quality, timely medical delivery.
- Enforce rigorous infectious disease prevention, biosecurity, and sanitation policies.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and fully operational hospital environment compliant with safety regulations.
- Mentor, train, and foster the professional growth of veterinary technicians and assistants.
- Assist in teaching and guiding fourth-year veterinary students during clinical rotations.
- Serve as the primary Liaison between EFAVC staff, hospital leadership, and ancillary hospital services to align operations and protocols.
- Maintain excellent working relationships across all hospital areas.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to both internal colleagues and external clients.
- Role Requirements: Extensive clinical experience as a Veterinary Technician or Assistant, with specialized knowledge in equine and/or farm animal medicine.
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience in supervisory duties, operational scheduling, and team management within a veterinary setting.
- Core Competencies: Strong communication, biosecurity adherence, clinical teaching ability, and client service skills.
- Excellent communication skills with a commitment to maintaining a high level of professionalism at all times.
- Strong computer literacy paired with proven problem-solving abilities.
- Physically able to lift and handle up to 60 pounds regularly with or without reasonable accommodations.

Minimum Experience/Education:
Bachelor's degree and two years of general research experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

- Veterinary Technology degree (or equivalent)
- At least 5 years of experience in an advanced large animal, tertiary care, or referral hospital setting.
- State RVT/LVT/CVT certification and previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.
