Job Description

The University of Notre Dame Operations, Events, and Safety (UOES) division is currently hiring for Full-Time Lead Banquet Set Ups at The Morris Inn in our campus Hospitality department. The UOES division oversees the University's event management, hospitality, and customer service functions, while also supporting student life, academic initiatives, research activities, and annual milestone celebrations.

The Morris Inn is a AAA Four Diamond Hotel and sits at the heart of Notre Dame's storied campus. It continues to be the 'living room' of the University of Notre Dame where guests will find the perfect atmosphere in which to enjoy a business lunch, family gathering, special occasion or a casual meal.

As the Lead Banquet Set-Ups, you will take a hands-on leadership role in orchestrating the preparation of our elegant banquet spaces for a variety of high-profile events, from corporate functions to weddings and social celebrations. You will ensure that all set-ups are completed with precision and according to event specifications, while also guiding and supporting the banquet set-up team to deliver exceptional service and presentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise the banquet set-up team to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient preparation of all event spaces.
• Interpret and execute banquet event orders (BEOs) and floor plans with attention to detail, ensuring all client and managerial requests are fulfilled.
• Coordinate the setup of meeting rooms, dining rooms, and public areas with tables, chairs, linens, staging, bars, and specialty items (e.g., podiums, dance floors).
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of all function and service areas, including post-event tear-down, trash removal, and linen handling.
• Monitor inventory of banquet equipment and materials; report shortages or damages and ensure items are stored properly.
• Collaborate with banquet managers, culinary teams, and service staff to ensure smooth transitions and readiness for each event.
• Train and mentor new or junior team members on proper procedures and safety standards.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, health, and safety regulations in all banquet areas.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in banquet set-up or event operations, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or lead role preferred
• Strong understanding of banquet event orders (BEOs), room diagrams, and event logistics
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
• Ability to lead by example, motivate team members, and maintain a positive, professional demeanor
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality event presentation
• Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment; ability to lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs and be on feet for extended periods
• Must be available to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Excellent communication and listening skills
• Ability to maintain a standing position for extended periods of time (up to 6 hours at a time)

Pay Rate: $19.50/hr
