Lead College Connection Coach
General Summary
Collaborates with the Executive Director of Student Success, Executive Director of Academic Partnerships, college life coaches, faculty, administration, and students to lead and advance the Dual Credit Pathways advising initiative at Odessa College. Provides strategic oversight and coordination of advising processes to ensure dual credit students receive structured, timely, and goal-oriented guidance aligned with academic and career pathways. Leverages tools such as Student Planner and other advising technologies to enhance student engagement, streamline academic planning, and support degree completion. Works across departments and with external school district partners to strengthen alignment between high school and college pathways, improve student transitions, and promote access, persistence, and success for dual credit populations.
Specific Position Duties
- Supervise, train, and evaluate College Connection Coaches.
- Oversee the implementation and evaluation of action plans for students on academic probation and suspension.
- Prepare reports as needed for Odessa College administration and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate student persistence through intentional and timely advising practices.
- Coordinate programming designed to increase the college-going culture and enrollment rates within the assigned service area.
- Develop and deliver programs that support student enrollment in college, including Odessa College.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Odessa College programs and course offerings.
- Represent the college at college day/night programs and outreach events.
- Maintain accurate records and produce follow-up reports on activities and future plans.
- Serve as a resource for students interested in enrolling in dual credit courses.
- Process applications and registrations, respond to inquiries, and streamline processes to expand access to dual credit opportunities.
- Provide information on admissions requirements and program benefits to prospective students and parents via phone, email, mail, and in-person visits.
- Conduct follow-up communication with students and families as appropriate.
- Maintain office space at Odessa College to ensure availability to students, parents, and staff, even when not assigned to a high school campus.
- Organize Odessa College involvement in district initiatives, career exploration activities, and celebrations of student success.
- Serve as a liaison between Odessa College and school districts to support and expand educational opportunities across the service area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
- Highly developed skills in project organization and time management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid drivers license.
