The area is responsible for providing high quality services to students, delivering enabling programs, and embedding evidenced-based equitable and inclusive practice across the institution.
About the Opportunity
The Lead, Course Inherent Requirements will be responsible for leading the implementation of ECU’s contemporary and inclusive course inherent requirements framework for university study. Positioned within Access and Equity, this specialist role works with multi-disciplinary teams, academic staff and staff with expertise in equity and in disability inclusion to guide a consistent, integrated approach to defining essential course requirements and professional capabilities.
The role involves a collaborative approach to build understanding and capability across the university, and embed development and review of course inherent requirements as standard practice within curriculum quality assurance mechanisms. By offering dedicated support and expertise in the integration of inclusive educational practice, the role is pivotal in the creation of an educational environment that is inclusive and enhances the conditions for every student’s success.
About you
Suitable candidates for this role will meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrated ability to integrate contemporary inclusive educational approaches and/or equity principles in teaching and learning
- Demonstrated understanding of the academic governance of units and courses
- Demonstrated ability to apply community, industry and/or professional collaboration in teaching performance in an educational setting
- Scholarly activity in the discipline of teaching and learning, particularly in the higher education context
- Commitment to an inclusive student-centred approach and a consistent student learning experience
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively across various areas to achieve goals of the school, teaching area or university
- It is desirable that you have an understanding of the requirements of professional accrediting bodies and related professional/competency standards applicable for courses taught at ECU, alongside the Higher Education Standards Framework 2021, Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and Disability Standards for Education 2005.
