Department Summary
We provide Custodial Services for UCLA's over 12.5 million combined state supported and client requested square footage. We cater to all areas of our University, including specialized areas such as vivarium, recreational facilities, wet and dry laboratories and patient care areas. To make this all run smoothly, it takes a team of dedicated and trained custodians to provide our customers with the highest level of service while meeting their needs 7 days a week.
Position Summary
Join UCLA's Custodial Services team and help maintain more than 12.5 million square feet of campus facilities. Our dedicated custodians support a wide range of spaces, including laboratories, recreational facilities, vivariums, patient care areas, and more. We're looking for dependable, service-focused team members committed to providing a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for the UCLA community.
Salary & Compensation
*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications
- Custodial Experience One year previous custodial experience (Required)
- Equipment Knowledge of proper use of the various floor care machines utilized by custodial staff, e.g., stripping machine, waxer/buffer, water pick-ups, etc. (Required)
- Equipment Knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment utilized by custodial staff, including achievement of operational level skills. (Required)
- Communication Oral communication skills to obtain or convey clear, concise, and grammatically correct information. (Required)
- Communication Ability to write standard English text at the complete sentence level to write inspection reports, complete forms, and supply orders. (Required)
- 1. Working knowledge of all aspects of custodial cleaning and/or general maintenance duties and services. (Required)
- 2. Ability to coordinate work projects, and direct and inspect the work of subordinates. Also, the ability to lead small groups of individuals to successfully accomplish tasks. (Required)
- 3. Ability to correct inaccuracies in workmanship, and communicate customer concerns to supervision. (Required)
- 4. Ability to maintain highest quality of custodial service at level consistent with University and department standards. (Required)
- 5. Skill in reading technical instructions related to custodial work in order to comprehend equipment operating instructions and/or documents related to the job functions. (Required)
- 6. Oral communication skills to obtain or convey clear, concise, and grammatically correct information. (Required)
- 7. Ability to write standard English text at the complete sentence level to write inspection reports, complete forms, and supply orders. (Required)
- 8. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with peers, subordinates, supervisors, administrators, customers, visitors, and outside agencies. (Required)
- 9. Working knowledge of standard safe work practices. (Required)
- 10. Ability to maintain good attendance. (Required)
- 11. Ability to work overtime and weekends. (Required)
- 12. Ability to work various shifts. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
- High School (Preferred)
- Must possess California Driver's license, Class C. Ability to drive a truck or other light vehicle in the course of duties. 100 (Required)
Special Conditions for Employment
- Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
- Pre-Placement Physical: Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory physical examination.
- Driving Record: The position is subject to the California DMV "Pull Notice System" and continued employment is contingent upon proof of a satisfactory driving record.

UCLA is a public research university located in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. It was founded in 1919 and is the second oldest of the ten campuses affiliated with the University of California system. In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.
The campus' location in Los Angeles makes excursions to local museums, theaters, or other entertainment venues relatively quick and easy.
