Job Description
Under general supervision and direction of Director of Housing and Residential Education, this position is responsible for identifying operational challenges, analyzing data, and providing solutions to enhance efficiency for the Housing administrative area. This position has a focus on occupancy and occupancy processes, maintenance of occupancy records, and administration of the housing operations software system.

This position has a focus on occupancy and occupancy processes, maintenance of occupancy records, and administration of the housing operations software system.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as primary contact for housing management software (StarRez), handling system configuration, updates, troubleshooting, and integration with campus systems.
- Design and manage electronic housing applications using SQL, including data tables and process workflows.
- Ensure efficient operations for students, staff, and external stakeholders by optimizing software processes.
- Coordinate housing assignments and selection processes, applying policy interpretation and judgment to support various student groups.
- Maintain accurate records for housing assignments, billing, and occupancy; monitor cancellations and specialty housing placements.
- Audit student accounts for housing and meal plans; assist with eligibility verifications and follow-up on outstanding requirements.
- Develop and run custom queries and reports to support decision-making and strategic planning.
- Support resident check-in/out, eviction processes, and compliance with university housing policies.
- Collaborate across departments to coordinate housing operations and resolve complex issues.
- Respond to inquiries from students, families, and campus partners, ensuring excellent customer service and public relations.
- Contribute to communication, marketing efforts, and department-wide initiatives including recruitment and retention.
- Provide training, guidance, and informal supervision to student assistants and staff.
- Lead daily office workflow, operations, and staff development under the direction of the DHRE Director.
- Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain availability on all opening and closing weekends, as well as final exam weeks, for all terms and during summer months.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs, PLUS two years of related experience.
Required Qualifications
Working knowledge of and ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program and/or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations.
Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the applicable program and/or administrative specialty.
Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques.
Ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved.
Skill in the research, development and evaluation of policies and programs, including skill in the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
Expertise in investigating and analyzing problems with a broad administrative impact and implications. Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively.
Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form.
Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five years professional experience
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience in a Higher Education setting preferred.
- Working knowledge of the practices and activities related to Housing and Residential Education/Residence Life.
- Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and their family members.
- Demonstrated proficiency and ability to effectively use common computer and technology programs and related computer software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, etc.) in the course of assigned duties

Compensation and Benefits:
Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,598 - $5,500 per month
Classification Salary Range: $4,598 - $8,318 per month
The salary offered will take into account internal equity and experience among other factors.
The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Position Information:
Work status: Full-time/Exempt/Probationary
Academic year schedule: Monday through Friday (8:00 am - 5:00 pm), some evenings/weekends.
Summer schedule: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm), some evenings/weekends.
