Lead Mail Carier
Job Description
- Picks up and delivers United States Postal Service (USPS) and interdepartmental and/or student mail.
- Picks up mail by utilizing a state owned motor vehicle.
- Delivers mail to various destinations.
- May make special mail runs as directed by the supervisor.
- Assists in preparation of special mailings.
- Maintains state owned motor vehicle, to include but not limited to inspecting the vehicle for engine oil, and brake pressure.
- Informs central mail supervisor of any deficiencies.
- Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
Job Requirements
Required Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED, AND: 24 months experience in mailing/postal transportation.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to read and write
- Excellent driving record
- Basic computer and math skills
- Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
Working Conditions:
- Physical: Ability to engage in repetitive motions. Loading and unloading heavy loads (up to 50 lbs.). Stooping, bending, standing, and climbing often and for prolonged periods. Performing physically demanding labor.
- Environmental: Working in potentially hazardous conditions. Exposure to extreme temperatures and outdoor work in all seasons.
Certifications or Licenses: Valid Oklahoma Driver's License in order to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days from hire date.
