Position, Department: Lead Museum Guard, Advancement & Government Affairs
Type of Position: Part-time Regular, Non-Exempt
Work Schedule, Hours per week: Varies depending on department needs, 25 hours per week
Pay Range: $16.31-$20.77 and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: Provide supervision, direction, and guidance to Museum Guard staff responsible for public safety and the protection of artwork and collections within the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art.
Required Qualifications:
- May assist less-experienced team members.
- Typically requires 3+ years of related experience.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Supervise and coordinate the daily work of Museum Guard staff. Monitor work to ensure employees are following established guidelines and procedures. Lead in a manner that drives operational excellence, continual improvement, and teamwork.
- Oversee scheduling and staff distribution throughout the museum and galleries.
- Lead the observation and monitoring of visitors throughout the museum and galleries to maintain order and secure conditions for visitors and staff.
- Oversee security patrols to ensure protection for the museum and its contents from potential losses, vandalism, or theft.
- Coordinate the opening and closing checklist procedures.
- Address unsafe behavior and respond to emergency situations in a calm and confident manner per defined departmental protocols.
- Train Museum Guard staff in the delivery of accurate and up-to-date information related to the museum to guests, such as safety rules and specific details on exhibitions.
- Serve as a welcoming presence to visitors, while assessing and interpreting behavior. Provide information and direct visitors to galleries, restrooms, information desks, and other points of interest.
- Act as the Building Manager during evenings and weekends.
- Communicate with Campus Services, Campus Police, fire authorities, emergency response personnel, and museum staff during incidents and emergencies affecting the museum.
- Coordinate and contribute to bi-weekly Museum Guard meetings.
- Serve as the point of contact for the Scheduling department during special events in the museum.
