Lead Vascular Technologist
Position Summary
Under guidance of the Vascular Laboratory Manager, performs a full range of non-invasive vascular testing procedures and supervisory responsibilities for the satellite vascular laboratory.
Job Responsibilities
- Acts as co-manager for the satellite locations under the guidance of the lab director and surgical attending. Responsible for ensuring that these sites are properly staffed and that all equipment is maintained in optimal working condition.
- Leads the accreditation and reaccreditation process for satellite offices, ensuring compliance with IAC requirements. Responsibilities include maintaining accreditation status and compiling case studies from all managed satellite locations for submission.
- Train and support new technologists to seamlessly integrate into the satellite lab workflow, while simultaneously performing quality assurance to ensure that all exam protocols and criteria are consistently met.
- Provides guidance and recommendations on processes and workflows within their scope of duties, promoting efficiency and consistency across satellite labs under their purview.
- Performs non-invasive testing procedures to evaluate arterial and venous circulation using a hand held Doppler, pulse volume recorder, photoplethys-mography and duplex ultrasound imaging techniques.
- Responsible for manually mapping satellite patient accessions after clinic hour to ensure DICOM compatibility.
- Ensures satellite equipment is transported and routinely maintained in accordance with IAC guidelines.
- Obtains documentation adequate for the interpretation of the study, this many include ultrasound images, video loop segments, videotape and hard copy of waveforms and pressures.
- Maps orders and compiles test results for interpretation by physician. May also provide preliminary interpretation of test results. Notifies consulting physician of any unusual or abnormal reports.
- Ensures that facilities and equipment are in optimal and proper working condition. Coordinates preventative maintenance and repairs as needed. May perform minor repairs if qualified and as needed. May advise on upgrades for performance enhancements.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience
Approximately 5 years of experience as a full-time vascular technologist in an ICAVL accredited lab. Demonstrated leadership skills preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Graduation from an accredited vascular technology program.
Licenses and Certifications
Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
BLS Certification (issued by the American Heart Association)
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
This position requires daily lifting and transporting of equipment and patients. Position requires transporting between multiple sites on a daily basis.
