Job Summary
The Leadership and Service Coordinator position works to coordinate leadership, community engagement, and service initiatives within the Office of Student Life. This position oversees the daily operations of the GGC Care Pantry and Grizzly Thrift, including supervision of student employees and coordination of volunteers supporting pantry services and distributions. The position assists with the planning and implementation of Alternative Break programs and serves as the primary advisor for the institutional registered student organization, Grizzlies Serve. In collaboration with campus partners, student leaders, and community organizations, the position helps expand student participation in leadership and service opportunities while supporting initiatives that address student basic needs, leadership development, and service opportunities.
This is a limited-term position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2027, subject to departmental needs and funding availability.
This position is designated as Campus Security Authority (CSA) and is responsible for reporting crimes and other incidents to the Clery Act Compliance Officer for inclusion in the Annual Campus Security Report in accordance with the Federal Clery Act and GGC policy.
Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the Care Pantry and Grizzly Thrift, including food and clothing distribution, inventory management, organization of storage and supplies, and coordination of volunteers supporting resource distribution efforts.
- Manage Care Pantry student employees, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance oversight to ensure efficient operations and high-quality service for students utilizing pantry resources.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of student leadership programs and workshops including the Grizzly student leader retreat and student leadership development series.
- Support the coordination of the Alternative Break program by training and mentoring student site leaders, guiding student teams in the planning and implementation of service experiences, assisting with trip logistics, and serving as a faculty/staff advisor for local and travel-based trips. ZServe as the primary advisor for the institutional registered student organization (RSO) Grizzlies Serve, mentoring student leaders and supporting the development and implementation of volunteer initiatives, service projects, leadership development opportunities, and signature service programs such as MLK Day of Service, Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, Launch into Service, and Earth Week.
- Assist with the management of the GGC Serves platform, including maintaining service opportunities, assisting with volunteer registration and tracking, and supporting the use of the platform for campus service initiatives and partnerships.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with campus departments, student organizations, community organizations, and community resource partners to support service initiatives, volunteer opportunities, and basic needs programming.
- Maintain records and participation data related to volunteer engagement, pantry services, and community initiatives to support program assessment and reporting.
- Maintain GGC certifications for operating university vehicles and equipment, including vans and golf carts, and operates such vehicles as needed to support Alternative Break programs, service initiatives, and departmental activities.

Required Qualifications
- 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree
- 2 - 3 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of experience advising or supporting student organizations in a college or university environment.
- 2 years of experience coordinating experiential learning or service programs such as Alternative Breaks or service trips.
- 2 years of experience working with basic needs initiatives such as food pantries, clothing closets, or food insecurity programs.
- 2 years of experience using volunteer management platforms or engagement systems (e.g., GivePulse) to coordinate service opportunities and track participation.
- 1 year of experience coordinating volunteer programs, service initiatives, or community engagement activities.
- 1 year of experience working with students, volunteers, or peer leaders in a higher education, nonprofit, or youth development setting.
- 1 year of experience organizing programs, events, or initiatives that involve multiple participants or stakeholders.
- 1 year of experience supervising, mentoring, or providing leadership to students, volunteers, or staff.
Proposed Salary
34,800 - 41,700
Salary offer will be dependent on candidate's experience and qualifications, internal equity considerations, budget availability, and salary administration guidelines.
