Offer Description
UNIVERSITY OF LATVIA (Registration No. 90000076669), Faculty of Education Sciences and Psychology, invites applications for 1 (one) Leading Researcher position (part-time, 0.25 FTE) in the area of Psychology, with specialization in social psychology.
The position is intended to strengthen the Faculty's research capacity in social psychology, in particular in the study of radicalization, extremism and terrorism. The successful candidate will contribute to research and to knowledge transfer to policy makers, professionals and the general public.
Work duties and areas of responsibility
Scientific work:
- prepare research proposals to local and international research projects;
- conduct research, coordinate team.
Pedagogical work (education programme group “Social and Human Behaviour Sciences” (313)):
- supervise and involve doctoral students in scientific research projects;
- supervise master's theses and involve students in research work.
Organisational work:
- carry out administrative tasks related to project management;
- prepare a report on the study's results in Latvian for policy makers, professionals and the general public.
Main qualification requirements:
- Doctoral degree (Dr. psych. or equivalent) in Psychology, together with an established, independent research record in social psychology corresponding to the Leading Researcher (R4) profile, including expertise in radicalization, extremism and terrorism research;
- demonstrated ability to develop and validate psychological / cognitive-ability assessment instruments and to lead externally funded research projects;
- language requirements: Latvian – C2 (proficient user); English – B2 (good);
- knowledge of additional languages will be considered an advantage.
Specific Requirements:
- experience preparing competitive research project applications (at least 2 project applications expected within the 6-year evaluation period) and publishing in WoS / Scopus-indexed Q1/Q2 journals (at least 3 scientific publications and 3 conference presentations expected within the same period);
- experience supervising doctoral and master's students and involving them in research;
- experience leading project administration (at least 1 project to be led) and communicating research results to policy makers, professionals and the general public (at least 1 report in Latvian expected).
