Job Summary:
This posting is for a Learn & Earn position. To be
eligible for Learn & Earn positions you must maintain
enrollment in at least six (6) credits at LBCC, maintain
satisfactory academic progress throughout each term and maintain a
cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better (some positions may
require a higher GPA ).
Welcomes international students and provides assistance to assure
students feel welcome and included at LBCC and across all campuses.
Assists with organizing and hosting activities and events that
support international student engagement. Visits classrooms to
share international perspectives with other students and helps
international students connect to various support services.
International Student Office Assistant will work approximately 10
hours per week during the school term, plus additional hours for
orientation and preparation during week zero of each term up to a
maximum of 20 hours per week. May work up to 40 hours per week
during the Summer term and during the college breaks if
needed.
Essential Duties:
- Maintains student records, department forms and works with
system software, excel and word documents as directed by
International Advisors.
Creates content for social media and maintains social media
channel updates.
Greets students and visitors in the International Programs
Office.
Supports recruitment of international students by guiding
campus tours to prospective students.
Assist new students throughout the entry process, new student
orientations. Assist student with accessing student accounts for
registration in WebRunner and other campus tools, such as Student
Scheduler, etc.
Assists with connection of international students with
resources needed for cultural adjustment and academic success.
Assists International Student Ambassadors with planning and
executing group activities that support international student
engagement. Creates and disseminates advertising for international
student events via social media, campus billboards, classroom
visits, etc.
Assists students with completing online applications, monitors
the weekly online application Zoom drop-in hours when
possible.
Assists International Programs staff with recruitment and
retention projects as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office setting with little or no
exposure to health and safety hazards.
- Significant amount of work is performed on a computer.
- May work additional hours and occasional evening hours as
needed.
- May travel to other LBCC campuses as needed.
Education and Experience
- Must be attending LBCC student enrolled in at least 6 credits
(except during breaks) with a 2.0 GPA or better. An international
student, or a Non-international student applicant must have
experience in a multicultural setting or working with international
populations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires good organizational, communication, and customer
services skills.
- Basic knowledge of general office practices, campus email
communications and procedures is preferred.
- Requires the ability to perform the duties of the position
efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision.
- Requires ability to learn, understand and apply department and
college rules, regulations and policies.
- Requires good attention to detail.
- Must be reliable and punctual, and present a positive
attitude.
- Must be able to work respectfully with individuals from all
cultures, backgrounds and perspectives.
