Position Description
The Department of Design seeks an energetic faculty member to join a dynamic Interior Design program. The successful applicant's primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate students, directing online programming, service, and professional activities. Faculty engage in service to the major area, department, student professional organizations, university, profession, and community. Other responsibilities include mentoring students, implementing accreditation standards within their courses and working to advance the interior design program.
The Department of Design in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position in Interior Design to begin September 1, 2026.
Faculty Qualifications
- All applicants should have earned a MS and/or MA by appointment time, in Interior Design or a related field.
- Demonstrated relevant industry experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in interior design professional practice, by date of hire, either having passed the NCIDQ exam or meeting eligibility requirements to sit for it
- Terminal degree (Ph.D., MFA) in Interior Design or a related field
- Teaching experience in higher education
- Experience with and competency in relevant industry-standard software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, SketchUp)
- WELL AP, NKBA, AAHID, or other relevant certification(s)
The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate level courses while providing service to the Department, the College, and the University as appropriate.
